Comments |
Lamb found a good outcrop of well-preserved and articulated shells (but less extensive than WB00-25). The top of the outcrop seems to approximate the top of the shell bed. I did dig in at one spot and found shale as the topmost layer. Source layer is sandy and cohesive. There are many large specimens at least as float that I did not collect in the absence of hardener. See Picture 12. |

First collection at F148. On top of shell bed; south-facing. Same horizon as F146. Steep slope with thick lens of snails. Dave is working in photo. F148 is part of locality of F144, F145, F146, and F148. Note that this locality was also collected a second day (8/17). |
